Sports teaches you there is always a second innings in life. If you fail today, there’s a second innings maybe two days later. Maybe there’s another opportunity coming up three or six months later. If you look at mistake as learnings and commit never to make a same mistake again, then you actually get better with every mistake that you make.

I went to Dartmouth College, graduated, and had the opportunity to play two professional sports – I played for the New England Patriots in the NFL and professional lacrosse for the Boston Blazers. I had an injury, so I had to stop so I could heal. But when I was playing football, I wasn’t making a lot of money; I wasn’t a superstar.

But sports carried me away from being in a gang, or being associated with drugs. Sports was my way out.

Overall the fundamentals seem to be there and he’s obviously got a very mature head on his shoulders. He’s got a kind of presence.
